I'm pleased to share that I presented my research paper, "Psychoacoustics of Soft Clipping: Validation through Time and Frequency Analysis.," at the Audio Engineering Society Latin American Convention (AES LAC 2024). This study explored the perception of soft clipping as a clean form of distortion, integrating time and frequency analyses with existing listening test results.

Key Aspects of the Research
  • Comprehensive Analysis: The study combined theories on various distortion types with existing listening test results to provide a holistic view of soft clipping perception.

  • MATLAB Implementation: Utilized MATLAB for synthesizing and analyzing different types of audio distortions, including soft clipping, hard clipping, full-range distortion, and center clipping.

  • Time and Frequency Domain Analyses: Conducted waveform and spectrogram analyses to demonstrate how soft clipping maintains its 'cleanliness' even when applied at high intensities.

  • Validation of Previous Findings: The results confirmed and expanded upon existing hypotheses about soft clipping, providing a foundation for future research in psychoacoustics and sound design.

Presentation Details
  • Event: AES Latin American Convention 2024

  • Date: Tuesday, September 10, 2024

  • Time: 13:15 (Bolivia Time)

  • Duration: 25-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A sessio
