ABOUT ME

My journey in music technology spans nearly a decade, bridging the worlds of academic research and professional audio production. With a Master's in Audio and Music Technology from the University of York and a Bachelor's in Audio Engineering from SAE Institute Mexico, I've developed a robust foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the field.

My research interests lie at the intersection of musicology, psychoacoustics, and interactive systems. Recent projects include a MIDI-based analysis of Mexican vocal melodies and an investigation into the perception of soft clipping as a form of 'clean' distortion. Currently, I'm developing an interactive music system for virtual reality, which has been selected for presentation at Game Republic 2024.

In the professional realm, I've had the privilege of working with internationally renowned artists and producers. My experience ranges from studio recording and mixing to live sound engineering for high-profile events. A career highlight includes contributing to a Latin Grammy-nominated project, and my Dolby Atmos mixes have been featured on Apple Music's curated playlists.

My technical expertise covers core areas of music technology, including Music Information Retrieval, Digital Signal Processing, and Interactive Music Systems Design. I'm proficient in industry-standard tools, holding certifications in Pro Tools, Ableton Live, and Waves plugins. This technical knowledge is complemented by a strong grounding in music theory and cognition, essential for pushing the boundaries of music technology research.

As an instructor for Audio Engineering and Music Production, I've honed my ability to communicate complex technical concepts. My role as a technician at the Music Research Center at the University of York has further deepened my understanding of the research process and academic environment.

Looking ahead, I aim to contribute to innovative research in music technology through a Ph.D. program. My goal is to explore advanced music information retrieval systems, develop novel interactive music technologies, and investigate the applications of music technology in emerging fields like VR/AR and AI. With my blend of academic knowledge and industry experience, I'm eager to tackle research challenges that bridge theory and practice in meaningful ways.
